Maintaining Your Security System

The regular service and maintenance of your security alarm system is essential to ensure that it is capable of detecting unwanted entry to your premises. Poorly maintained equipment can cause false alarms which are annoying and costly. More significant consequences can arise from lack of maintenance if your security system fails to detect unwanted intrusion.

The Advanced Inland Security alarm system maintenance program is in accordance with Australian Standard AS 2201.1. Regular maintenance is also a normal requirement of most insurance companies if they have taken your security system into consideration when calculating your premium(s). Failing to maintain your security system may invalidate an insurance claim you make due to theft and/or damage.

These consequences can best be avoided by having our technicians perform an annual maintenance inspection for a small investment.

Annual Maintenance Inspection Checklist

• Visual inspection & cleaning of control panel, code pads & detection devices
• Walk test and adjust as necessary all motion sensors to ensure that their coverage pattern and range are adequate
• Test all sirens / strobes and test siren timeout times
• Check test reports & download ability
• Check with monitoring station to ensure open / close and test calls are being correctly reported
• Test system current draw to ensure power supplies are adequate
• Test backup batteries under load to ensure their good health
• Ensure dialer socket is correctly installed
• Check visible cable / wiring condition
• Check security alarm signage, code pad / phone stickers and replace as necessary
• Check after hours contacts & required alarm response action(s)
• Check site password
• Check scheduled hours of operation
• Notify customer of defective equipment
